This past fall, Barbero played indoor soccer with the Demize in the PASL pro winter league. He played in five of the eight game season for the Demize, scoring eight goals and ten assists. His PASL exposure was a key part in him receiving the invitation this week.
Springfield, MO – Gerard Barbero is spending this weekend at the Major Indoor Soccer League’s soccer combine in Overland Park, Kansas. He was one of sixty field players that received the invitation for the trial.
Barbero attended high school in Marietta, GA. He was a three year starter for Lassiter High . They were ranked number one in the country for part of the season his sophomore year. He spent his senior year on the sideline with an injury.
Gerard came to Springfield four and a half years ago to play soccer for Missouri State University. He’s in his fifth year at MSU finishing up his degree in Entertainment Management. While playing as a Bear, he started in the midfield. During his Junior season, Gerard started all 18 games, finishing with five goals and an assist. Indoor soccer suits me well, as I can rely on my skills.” His PASL exposure was a key part in him receiving the invitation this week.
All of the MISL teams will have coaches attending this weekends combine. Gerard’s hope for this weekend is ” That several teams show some interest in me, and I can continue playing soccer in the league.”
